Cookie Policy

A cookie is a small text file downloaded onto ‘terminal equipment’ (e.g., a computer or a smartphone) when a user accesses a website. It allows the website to make the user’s experience more efficient by recognising your device and storing some information about your preferences or past actions. Cookies allow websites to remember your preferences and play an essential role in making the site work better for you. To some extent, cookies can be seen as providing a “memory” for the website, enabling it to recognise a user and respond appropriately. By law, we can store cookies on your device only if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this website. For all other types of cookies, we need your permission. This means that cookies categorized as necessary are processed based on EU GDPR and UK GDPR, i.e. our legitimate interest. All other cookies, those from the categories preferences and marketing, can be processed only based on your consent of the EU GDPR and UK GDPR. Note that you can change or withdraw your consent at any time via our cookie management tool, available on our website.

How do we use cookies?

We use the following cookies and similar technologies:

Necessary Cookies

These cookies enable core functionality such as security, identity verification, and network management, making the website work. You may disable these by changing your browser settings, which may affect how the website functions, as it cannot function correctly without them.

Cookies and third parties

Some CTM-E websites use 'first-party cookies'. These are cookies set and controlled by the Commission, not by any external organisation.

The CTM-E websites within the ctm-e.org domain may provide links to third-party sites. To use third-party content on our websites, you may need to accept their specific terms and conditions, including their cookie policies over which we have no control.

Safeguarding information

Collected personal data are stored in the security of communication and information systems in the Research Project.

The Research Project`s contractors are bound by a specific contractual clause for any processing operations of your data on behalf of the project. They must guarantee the data protection and confidentiality level required by Regulation.

Your rights as a data subject

You have the right to obtain access to the personal data held by the project about you and to request its rectification or erasure, restriction of processing or, where applicable, the right to object to processing or the right to data portability. Where the processing is based on your consent or explicit consent, you also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

For any request concerning the processing of your personal data, we invite you to contact the operational controller responsible (as identified in the privacy statement related to the specific processing activity or e-service).

Where to find more detailed information

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) publishes the register of all processing operations on personal data by the Research Project, which have been documented and notified to him.

Functional cookies

Some preference cookies collect data to remember users' choices on a specific web page to improve and give the end user a more personalised experience. They enable a website to remember information that changes how it behaves or looks, the language, text size or the region from where the website is accessed. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised, and browsing activity on other websites cannot be tracked.

Marketing cookies

These cookies are typically used to track the effectiveness of advertising. They can also be used to provide a more relevant service and deliver better advertisement tools for specific websites. CMT-E is a research project that does not currently use marketing cookies.
