Press release

Counter-Terrorism Medicine Europe (CTM-E), a leading research organization focused on advancing medical preparedness in the face of terrorism, is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Triage-Plus, a New Zealand-based digital solutions company specializing in emergency response and healthcare technology. This partnership aims to leverage the Triage-Plus cutting-edge technology to enhance the CTM-E research capabilities and improve the effectiveness of medical responses to terrorism-related incidents.

Key areas of collaboration will include researching and better understanding innovative digital triage tools by jointly developing and testing advanced digital triage systems designed to improve patient prioritization and resource allocation during mass casualty incidents. Also, CTM-E will work with the representatives of Triage-Plus on data analysis and research. Utilizing the Triage-Plus data analytics platform to analyze large datasets from real-world incidents and research simulations, providing valuable insights for improving medical response protocols.

The partnership will also facilitate technology training, thus transferring knowledge between CTM-E and Triage-Plus, including training programs for healthcare professionals on using advanced triage technologies.

Counter-Terrorism Medicine is a novel medical discipline requiring a paradigm shift from the traditional response. The research behind our project plans to raise awareness around the differences between the response required in a disaster and terror-related mass casualty incidents by avoiding delays in treatment and access, which could potentially negatively affect both the patient and the rescuer. (CTM-E)

One of the fundamental objectives of MCIs is for all responding agencies to understand what is happening, where it is happening, how many patients there are, how sick they are, and how soon, where and when they will arrive. We built the Triage-Plus Datum to share that data across multiple agencies in real time so that everyone has accurate data to mount the best response possible and improve response and patient outcomes. It allows easy and consistent triage across all first responders using an ordinary triage sieve of choice, reduces the cognitive load on those involved and provides a common operating picture across all agencies in real time, especially the emergency departments where these patients will go. The partnership represents a significant step in improving medical preparedness and response to terrorism-related incidents. By combining the CTM-E expertise in counter-terrorism medicine with the Triage-Plus innovative technology, the two organizations aim to make a lasting impact on global health security.
